Background
This metropolitan council runs more than 22 business units, from libraries and arts events to waste collection and traffic management. Out-of-date documents, slow escalations and patchy training put those daily services at risk.
Implementation
The council moved its 22 BIAs into Battleground, so each department keeps its critical processes and contacts in one place. The BIAs feed each BCP, which staff can print on demand or open on their phones in the field. When a traffic light fails, the Incident Management module alerts the team and gives them a checklist. Annual simulations test scenarios from severe weather to system outages.
Results
The council now sees critical operations across every department as they happen. Plans stay current, a single place to report incidents has cut confusion and response times, and the annual exercises have made staff confident in an emergency.
